Hello everyone! My name is Priscilla Tang, and I’m from Calgary, Alberta. I am currently enrolled at the University of Calgary and have accomplished two of four years of my Bachelor of Education Degree, specializing in elementary music.
I started playing the piano at the age of nine, and ever since then, my passion for music has gradually increased. Throughout my childhood, I’ve been involved in various music-related activities such as band, church choir, and high school chamber choir.
Saying music is a big part of my life would be an understatement; however, my true passion and calling isn’t music alone, but teaching. My love for teaching begins with my love for learning. Learning new skills, and abilities has improved my confidence tremendously; therefore, I can't help but share the things I have learned. I can't wait for the day I graduate so I can help shape, guide, and prepare young minds for the world. The thought alone brings joy to my heart and confirms my calling as an educator. Doors have begun to open to put into practice two of my passions, teaching and music. My goal is to implement music into my teachings, so I can enrich the learning experience for others, and help communicate what cannot be said through words.
Above all, I’ve always aspired to use my gifts and abilities to glorify God, and to my surprise, the opportunity unveiled itself at the 2021 GYC conference in Houston. At the conference, I was introduced to IYMC. I had never heard of it before. The idea of being a musical missionary and sharing the gospel through music intrigued me, and the more I thought about it, the more I felt drawn to it. I knew my decision had to be led by God. In the summer of 2022, I was officially called to go and serve Him in Thailand, and even though I don’t know what lies ahead, I am extremely excited to see where He is leading me.
